Precautions against Altitude sickness

Tibet is the second largest province in China, the land area is over 1.2 million square kilometres. The average elevation of it is over 4,000 metres, the air pressure on the plateau is 65% of that at sea level, the average Oxygen content is 62 - 65% of that at the sea level. The annual rainfall differs by region, gradually decreasing from 5000mm in the southeast to 50mm in the northwest, the rainfall focused in summer time. So all of these factors combined together caused the severe climate in Tibet, for a new comer, it is easy to have altitude sickness.

The symptoms of altitude sickness are:

1):The frequency of pulse will become high. The normal pulse at plain area is around 72 times per minute, when at high platue (average elevation is over 3000m), the frequency will reach 80 - 90 times per minute, some people will be over 100 times, but stay on high plateau for a period, it will lower to normal level.

5):Digesting system. The low Oxygen content and the low pressure will restrict the movement of the stomache, the new comer will refuse to take food, even water, in worse condition, they will throw out what they have had, even the water.

The ways to release from the sufferrings:

1):to do deep breath. By this way, inhale more Oxygen to release the burden of heart on lack of Oxygen, and calm down the fast heart beat.
