Most of scenic spots to tourists in Tibet are located in Lhasa, Gyangtse, Shigatse and Tsetang area; in these mentioned places, you can visit Potala palace, Jokhang temple, Norbulinka palace, Ganden monastery, Sera monastery, Tsepung monastery, Tashilunpo monastery, Samye monastery, Yongbulakang palace and Mintorlin monastery

This tour is designed for those who are interested in exploring most frequented places in Tibet but they do not have time or much interests to Mt. Everest.

Travel to tibet in winter can save you much money; while at there, the number of tourists is a few, you enjoy quite peace and freedom; if you want to have a tour to tibet in this winter, please just take this recommended one, it covers all visits interesting and there is no other tour route matchable to my suggestion.

First of all, I need to let you know the truth about the winter in Lhasa, Gyangtse, Shigatse and Tsetang (click this link to view the relative location of these mentioned places); it is almost sunny every day, little cloudy, small wind (not strong); at daytime, it is warm, but in the shadow of trees, buldings, it is cold; in the morning (before 10:30) and after 18:30, it is cold. Day01: Fly to Lhasa ----------------------------------L -------------------3* Xiongba-Lha Hotel

Taking morning flight into Tibet, upon your arrival, local guide will meet you and transfer you to Lhasa. On the way, you can enjoy the heart - beating highland view along the Yalu Zangbu river (the longest river in Tibet, the lower reach in India is called Brham Putra river); in the afternoon, you are free.

Day02: Lhasa sightseeing ------------------------B/L -------------------3* Xiongba-Lha Hotel

In the morning, visit the grand - looking Potala Palace, which was built in the 7th century for the King. In the afternoon, visit Jokhang temple and stroll in the famous local bazaar - Parkhor street.

Day03: Lhasa sightseeing -------------------------B/L -------------------3* Xiongba-Lha Hotel

Visit the Tsepung monastery, which is the biggest monastery in Tibet. In the afternoon, visit Sera monastery.

Day04: Lhasa to Gyangtse to Shigatse -------B/L -------------------3* Shigatse Hotel

Driving past the Gangbala pass(4800m), view the Yangdrok lake, then down by the old road to Gyangtse, visit the Karuola glacier, the Perkhor monastery in Gyangtse town. Arrive at Shigatse in the late afternoon.

Day05: Shigatse to Lhasa  --------------------------B/L -------------------3* Xiongba-Lha Hotel

Visit Tashilunpo monastery, which is the biggest monastery in rear Tibet, and the permanent residence for Panchan Lhama. Inside are some stupas for the passed Panchan lhamas, and a 30 - metre high copper cast Future Buddha, see the local bazaar market. Then drive back to Lhasa through the valley of Yalu Zangbu river.

Day06: Lhasa to Samye to Tsetang -------------B/L --------------3* Snow Pigeon Hotel

Early departing from Lhasa, drive to Samye monastery from Lhasa city in the morning. Taking boat and cross the Yarlongzangbu river to Samye monastery, which is said to be the first monastery in Tibet; after this visit get back by crossing the river to the parking site, then go to Tsetang; at Tsetang, visit Yongbulakang palace, which is recorded as the first royal palace in Tibet history.

Day07: take afternon flight to leave Tibet ---------------- B/L

In the morning, you are free to walk around for sightseeing; at the agreed departure time, leave Tsetang city for airport, on the mid way, go and visit the famous Nyingmapa order monastery - Mintorlin monastery; this is the only Nyingmapa monastery in your tour in Tibet, all other monasteries belongs to Gelupa order (the Yellow Hat);

before 2 o'clock, getting to airport, you take plane to other destination, generally, it is Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, where you can see lovely panda bears, go to Leshan for Big Buddha statue, and visit Mt. Emeishan and the famous Taoists mountain - Qingchengshan.

Noting:
If your tour spans China May Day (from May 1st to May 7th), China National Day (from Oct. 1st to Oct. 7th), Tibet Shoton Festival  (from Aug. 12th to Aug. 18th) and Tibet Nakchu Horse Race Festival (from Aug. 10th to Aug. 16th), the tour charge will be different.
