20 days pilgrimage and Adventures in Tibet

Fly to Lhasa from Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai or Xi'an city.

Day02 Lhasa sightseeing

Visit Potala palace, Jokhang temple and Parkhor street.

Day03 Lhasa sightseeing

Visit Tsepung monastery, Norbulinka and Tibet museum.

Day04 Lhasa to Lhatse

Leaving Lhasa for Lhatse, on the way, passing by Shigatse which is the second biggest city in Tibet.

Day05 Lhatse to 22 Daoban (Road maintainance crew No.22, 240km)

Drive over the Chela pass (4926m) and passing by several road maintainance crews to arrive at 22 Daoban. 22 Daoban is a small stop -- over place. Here, road splits into two to Gar (the northern route and the southern route).

Day06 22 Daoban to Tsoching (245km)

Tsoching means Big lake, close to the small town is the famous Tsarinamtso (lake).

Day07 Tsoching to Gaize (280km)

Gaize is a relative bigger town on the northern route on the wide, flat grassland. It has an elevation 4470m.

Day08 Gaize to Gegye to Gar (500km)

From Gaize to Gegye is about 380km, the road is flat, the view along the way is amost the same as other places along the northern route -- wide grassland, bare highland, roaming wild animals.

Day09 Gar to Tsada (250km)

Driving south, at Namru, turn right. Tsada and Gar in history were in the control of Guge kingdom. Guge kingdom ruled the west of Tibet from 11th century till the middle of 17th century and had a long period of glory. It was Guge kingdom that supported the second spring -- up of the Tibet Buddhism.

Day10 Tsada to Namru (140km)

Visit Tolin monastery and Tsada pillar -- shaped earth forest. The best time to view this forest is at sunset time. Enjoy the beauty of Xiangquanhe (Elephant shaped river, the upper reach of India river). Ending the day at Namru.

dust storm at north khamDay11 Namru to Baga (200km)

Driving to Tarchen, the starting point for trekking around holy Mt. Kailashi (6656m). This mountain is thought to be the holy mountain by In dia Hinduism, Bon religion and Tibet Buddhism.

Day12 Tarchen to Holy lake (55km)

Drive to holy lake Manasarovar (water level: 4587m and water area: 412km). There are many legends about this lake. Around the lake are around 6 monasteries. To its west is another lake; La'angtso which was called Ghost lake.

Day13 Holy lake to Paryang (275km)

Leaving holy mountain and lake are for next stop. On the way, there is a Mayoulha pass (5216m).

Day14 Paryang to Jirong (280km)

On the way, pass by Saga (county), elevation: 4500m. And crossing the Lala ferry through the Yarluzangbu river. Ending the day at Jirong.

Day15 Jirong to Ganggha [old Tingri] (240km)

Visit Peigutso lake. On the way to Lalongla pass, enjoy the splendid view of Mt. Xixiabangma (8027m, the 14th highest mountain in the world).

Day16 Ganggha to Mt. Everest (160km)

Leaving Ganggha for Mt. Everest. On the way, viewing Mt. Chowowuyag (8201m). After crossing a river, Mt. Everest is ahead into a valley.

Day17 Mt. Everest (Rongbuk monastery) to Lhatse (175km)

Leaving Rongbuk monastery, drving northward to Lhatse, on the way, passing by Tingri.

By Lhatse town is Sakya monastery (about 40km off the main road into a river valley). At Shigatse, visit the famous Tashilunpo monastery, the permanent residence of Successive Panchan Lhamas. Ending the day at Gyangtse town.

Day19 Gyangtse to Lhasa (260km)

Visit Kumbum monastery. Driving east, on the way, visit Karola glacier and Yangdrok lake (the second biggest Holy lake in Tibet), then arrive Lhasa city.

Day20 Lhasa to your planned destination

Leaving Lhasa for other city (your planned tour destination).
